Yep, its time that you need to give your home an upgrade for the sake of saving in monthly home bills and of course to receive a tax credit on all things GREEN!!

Because 99 Doors is about reviewing Doors we couldn’t not let it go to get you in on the secret and door manufacturers that sell Energy Efficient Doors that can be used for your upcoming taxes. You have until December 31, 2010 to cash in!

There are certain rules that may apply depending on your state but Doors and Windows are on the list of the Energy Star Tax Credit.

Here is information directly from the Government Website:

Windows, Doors, Skylights

Requirements

U factor <=0.30
SHGC <=0.30

What do these acronyms mean?

SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) measures how well a window blocks heat from sunlight. The lower the SHGC, the lower the heat gain through a window. SHGC ranges from 0 to 1.

U-Factor measures how well a window, door, or skylight prevents heat from escaping. It is similar to the R value for insulation. The lower the number, the more efficient the window. Ratings usually range from 0.20 to 1.20.

How is your door replacement or installation going? Do you have a good front door design already? As you know, I’m always writing a quick review of the types of doors that you can install and the best brands out there. But whats a good quality door without a good house front door design? Well, there are all types of front door house designs out there. Well, I have researched and talked to some of the best front door designers and woodworker plan designers. Here are some of the best in the industry.

First figure out where you want your door design and in this case a front door design. Below are some options

Types of Door Designs

front door entrance design

front door landscaping

entry door design

exterior door design

front door entrances

house door design

front entryway design

exterior door designs

Next, think of colors by checking your house color and such.

A good buddy of mine Ted Mcgrath is a Woodwork designer and has many great woodworking plans and door designs. I should say, approximately 16,000 projects and plans if you wanted to check it out. I highly recommend it.

But also you should realize and get inspirations from door designs in your neighborhood while walking or driving. Not to forget, also check television series and movies although they can be extreme in this case but inspiration can come from the smallest detail. Also, online I would do a search in Flickr.com for front door designs, you’ll find a ton to help you!

Another online buddy of mine, from Woodworking4Home, John Metz, offers door plans (approx. 14,000) as well. The projects are different but of course they both help you in the end and like I said before I don’t recommend B.S. to my friendly website visitors.

Its been a while since I’ve posted. But I have never left from the scene! The spring well should I say feeling like summer is upon us, now to restore and get things back! Well…

Mahogany Wood Doors by defintion are reddish-brown color, which darkens over time, and displays a reddish sheen when polished. I like Mahogany doors because they represent a rich type of wood and over time it is very beautiful. Not to mention very strong.

Mahogany type doors are great for front door entrances and indoor rooms that are big in nature. Below are the most popular types.

There are many types of mahogany doors

Arched Mahogany Doors

Mahogany French Door

Carved Mahogany Doors

Mahogany Louvered Doors

Honduran Mahogany Doors

Mahogany Cabinet Doors

I honestly prefer mahogany in furniture such as Cup board, Drawers and especially Chests.

The top manufacturers for mahogany doors are Legacy Doors ,Wood Classics and Therma-Tru.

Home improvement for someone who is completing a project can be a hectic task. Especially, when it comes to choosing which home improvement store to choose to get the necessary material? There are two top home improvement stores to choose from, Lowes and Home Depot. Many cities and towns may not have these stores in their vicinity and may cause a person to drive out of their way to reach one of these home improvement stores. The names of these stores are not the only difference when it comes to home improvement. These two stores do not offer the same products is one of two the most important factors. On the other hand there are more Home Depots in many areas across the United States and will not have customers driving out of their way to get started on a home improvement project. Consumers have the tendency to go to stores that offer not only low prices and excellent customer service, but convenience is an important factor. Many contractors that may have to pick up supplies such as lumber or sheetrock usually choose Home Depot in a study that was conducted on April 14, 2007 at Bloggingstocks.com. At Home Depot the customer service is much better than Lowes due to the amount of employees that both stores have on duty.

Another difference between Lowes and Home Depot is that Home Depot only has 20% of its stock posted online while Lowes offers its complete stock online. Many consumers usually check the stock online before heading to the store to get the necessary tools to complete a home improvement project. To some consumers this is an inconvenience due to the lack of information and products that may be needed for an upcoming home improvement project. This is why many consumers Lowes because they already know what they need for a project along with an estimated amount that may be required to pay when starting their home improvement project. In all actuality neither store has lower prices due to the different brands they have in their stores. There may be a difference in prices when it comes to some products that these two home improvement giants may offer. So when it comes to the best home improvement store it goes to Lowes due to the convenience of having its complete stock offered online so consumers know what they are looking for when they come through the doors of Lowes. Although Home Depot may not have its complete stock online they still have better service and more stores available to consumers which is also a plus for them.

Normally I review and write about various doors, however this holiday season I want to give you a few ideas for making a great Christmas Wreath for your front door! Making wreathes or buying a wreath gives your home a great feeling for those who pass by and your family plus great holiday door decorations.

Above, is a picture of a traditional wreath that is normally green with a red bow tie. However, there are other ways to put together a good wreath. My mom would go to a craft store like Michaels and buy the barebone and create wreaths from straw, fruit and other fun objects.

Good example of a red wreath with the use of artificial red plants/flowers and other Christmas decorations. Decorating your door is fun and easy because its based on your imagination. Look around the house in your Christmas decoration box and put together your Christmas Wreath for your front door! Good luck!

Some people put full posters on the front door with Santa Claus or a Snow man. I think if you have a nice looking door, I wouldn’t hide. However, if you’re door is old, then going for a “new” look would be smart!

Double doors in any part of home is very elegant and nice to me. I remember when I was a kid our old refrigerator was a single door and our neighbors had a shiny new double door fridge. I thought it was just awesome how it had basically the same dimensions in size but it allowed for more storage but using double doors. Of course this is an example of double doors on the refrigerator. Homes with main double doors as you walk in is elegant and immediately means that they have a whole lot of space to work with. The prices of double doors are more expensive and require a tad bit more installation and measuring tactics.

The most popular double doors are the following:

steel double doors

glass double doors

double door fridges

double door freezers

wood double door

exterior double door

interior double door

double patio door

double closet door

double door cabinets

The complexity of installing these doors depend on the manufacturer and the material which the door is made. You can guess that steel and glass doors are the more complicated installations. It is best in this case to buy a double door kit to make installation easy and quick. The standard double door size range from
