Are they sturdy? We definitely need new patio doors, but we have kids who only know how to slam doors…which is actually why we need new doors…

P.S. I forgot to mention the the wood is also beginning to crack from the bottom up on both sides of the sidelight. Poor quality finish on this sidelight, indeed.

I bought a new ThermaTru entry door and sidelight in December 2006. As pretty as they look, I’m VERY dissappointed in the trim around the sidelight. It’s painted white over bare wood…..no primer. Now it’s only three years later and the white paint is already peeling off the bare wood. A ThermaTru rep came to make a warranty inspection and told me that this is a “home maintenance issue” and they would not correct the problem. It’s unbelievable to me that I’m supposed to scrape/paint the sidelight trim every three years. I will never recommend this product to anyone.

What store in NJ did you find the door? I want to get one, but it says on the site that none of the Lowes that are close to me carry the doors.

I have been looking for a new entry door and went to Lowes home site and found the door you show in the begining of this feed. Benchmark thurm-tru 36”tarracourt 3/4 oval mahagony stained item #130160 model #DMFGTC0186Z30LB and found it for Yes $478.00 good deal right. Well I Live in an area where the closest lows is 3 hours in any direction So I called Lowes willing to drive 6 hours round trip to get the $478.00 price. After many calls found that this door any many others are Special Order only which icreases the price to $1150. THATS IF THEY CAN FIND IT. I DID IN NJ FOR THE $478.ONLY ON THE EASTERN SEABOARD.I FOUND THIS TO BE A TYPICAL BAIT AND SWICTH SENARIO :ADVERTISE A PRICE AND TELL YOU SORRY THATS S/O ONLY AND INCREASE THE PRICE.Where can you find a decent good quality door without being scamed.
